The Advantages of Being a Doctor of Chiropractic Energy Physician.

In an earlier blog, I wrote of my concern that third-party payers would demand that Doctors of Chiropractic and Physical Therapist be combined under the same license for cost reduction reasons. (See Blog titled, “The danger of doctors of chiropractic being combined with doctors of physical therapy” 11/03/2019.) The main point was that Doctors of Chiropractic are generally limited to CMT (Chiropractic Manipulative Treatment) coding for third-party reimbursement limiting D.C.s to similar diagnostic codes used by P.T.s.
CMT coding for reimbursement keeps D.C.s tied to spinal conditions. Spinal conditions are next to impossible to code as an EM code (Evaluation and Management) because of the EM coding requirements. A D.C. energy physician can fulfill the EM coding requirements with ease. Filling an EM code office visit gives D.C.s much more latitude to get paid for what they are worth.
